Meet Luce and Scott, the owners of SUP, one of our newest independents. Located on Atherton Street, just across from New Brighton train station, SUP is a coffee shop meets gift shop meets bottle shop meets print studio. You might pop into SUP for just a latte, but you’ll definitely leave with either one of their prints or a cheeky tipple for later.
Luce and Scott met over 10 years ago when they were working at a well-known pizza restaurant. Before opening SUP, they started Toucan Tango Design, which operated out of the studio behind their shop. When the rest of the space became available, Luce and Scott combined their passions for hospitality, design and printmaking into SUP.
SUP stands for ‘Shop, Unwind, Print’ and as a SUPplier of crafted goods, SUPporter of makers and a small place to SUP coffee, beer, cider or wine, Luce and Scott have made the perfect space to do just that.
Luce and Scott are both huge coffee lovers and together have racked up some impressive barista experience; Scott has worked in coffee shops across the Wirral and Luce has poured coffees all over Australia. They’re favourite coffee they pour is a Coco Bon Bon, which is a flat white using coconut milk and their house espresso blend. They describe the Coco Bon Bon as a coconutty and jammy milkshake twist on a classic coffee.
Sup isn’t just your average coffee shop. It’s not even your average gift or bottle shop. Behind the coffee machine and the shelves of bottles, prints and trinkets lies the Toucan Tango Design print studio, where Luce and Scott make their very own pieces for you to purchase.
Luce and Scott actually designed our new Wirral Spend Independent card, which you can also buy from SUP. Using your card, or Wirral Coffee Club reusable cup, will get you 10% off in SUP when you spend over £5. Which, with all those bottles, prints and trinkets to choose from, isn’t hard to do.
